I Don't Care About That

As the conversation on the location of the new Annex/Criminal Justice building continues, I take every opportunity to discuss the issue with folks. In reality, what I have found is, many of those I talk to don't really have a strong opinion other than, what would work best. Of those who do have an opinion, ninety percent or better say the Justice Center is the best location for all the reasons we've discussed, officer safety, transportation costs, etc. The other ten percent are the hardcore, down town Loudon folks who want the new facility in the city for the economic reasons.

I had a brief conversation with one of those Loudonites the other day. When I asked about the location, the inevitable answer was, down town. When I asked about the issue of officer safety and transportation, the answer was, I don't care about that. I'll admit, the answer did catch me off guard. I don't think this person really meant that but they said it. I just hope there's not a lot of that kind  sentiment.

The commission will discuss the location again at the December 16th workshop with the hope to take action on the location at the January 6th meeting.
