Lucas Kincaid, 18, of Morganton Boulevard, Greenback, was pronounced dead at Blount Memorial Hospital, the Blount County Sheriff’s Office announced.
Kincaid was traveling south on Morganton Road at 2:56 p.m. in a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire when he lost control of the vehicle coming out of a curve in the 4800 block of Morganton Road, a news release from the Sheriff’s Office states. Kincaid overcorrected, went off the left side of the road and struck a tree on the driver’s side door, the release states.
He was taken by Rural/Metro Ambulance Service to Blount Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Kincaid was wearing his seat belt and the airbags did deploy in the vehicle.
The Blount County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Unit is investigating the accident.
