Grassoline
From Grass To Gas

While local news is kind of slow, I thought this might be a good time to give an update on my Switch Grass farming. As some of you know, I am raising Switch Grass for the experimental biomass plant being built by the University Of Tennessee, the first plant of it's kind in the world.

UT has been experimenting with Switch Grass as a fuel stock for several years. Myself and three other farms in Loudon County are participating in the program. Our contracts are for three years in which time we will do what's necessary to grow the best crop of Switch Grass possible. The new biofuel plant is expected to be up and running by this time next year or before.

Being involved with the University in this groundbreaking project has been exciting and offered the chance to learn a lot about the bioenergy industry.

My Switch Grass is all baled up and ready to be turned into grassoline.
