For A Better Loudon County

For a better Loudon County we don't need better schools or cleaner air, for a better Loudon County we don't need safe water or better roads, for a better Loudon County we don't need honest government or lower taxes. Noooooooo! According to our liquor leaders, Ed Bell, Dr. Barry Gordon and John Tuck, all we need for a better Loudon County is liquor stores. Apparently the only thing standing in the way of Loudon County and Lenoir City becoming utopias are the lack of liquor stores.

I'm sure many of you, as did I, received your slick little flyer complete with self addressed stamped post card to return to Citizens For A Better Loudon County to have the question of liquor stores placed on the November ballot. They have really pulled out all the stops this time. Our liquor leaders, Ed Bell, Dr. Barry Gordon and John Tuck have hired the largest and I'm sure the most expensive public relations firm in Knoxville to carry their water for them this time. I guess they learned from their past mistakes. They even have their very own web site telling us how wonderful life would be if we only had liquor stores. I will give them credit though, unlike two years ago, this time they at least had the guts to put their names on their dirty little project.

I've read the flyer and looked at the web site, and just as I predicted, they are claiming the big benefit to having liquor stores is all the tax revenue. But the oddly enough I didn't see on the flyer or the web site, estimating on how much money our liquor leaders, Ed Bell, Dr. Barry Gordon and John Tuck figure to make if they can have their very own liquor store. But based on how much money they are spending, they must figure to make a bundle.

In all honesty, there is no doubt they will get their petition signatures and I will even go ahead and predict that defeating the liquor store referendum this time will be a challenge, but come on guys, be big boys about it and stop lying to everybody and tell the truth. You all don't give one hoot about Loudon County or Lenoir City and you could care less about tax revenues. All three of you have but one reason, one burning, driving passion that makes you do what you do. GREED, pure and simple. Give the people a little more credit. We know your motivations and we're not nearly as stupid as you must think we are.

Citizens For A Better Loudon County. What a joke. Lets call it what it is, Citizens For A wealthier Ed Bell, Dr. Barry Gordon and John Tuck. How does your kind sleep at night?
