Fishermen rescue two adults, child who capsized below Ft. Loudoun Dam

wbir.com-Fellow fisherman were able to rescue three people who were thrown into the water Wednesday evening near Fort Loudoun Dam.

TWRA says the man, woman, and 5-year-old child were fishing below the dam when the turbulence from the water being spilled over the dam started pulling the boat into the spillway.

The boat's operator, Dustin Hooper, 38, of Madisonville, was unable to get the motor started to get the boat to safer water. Eventually, the boat capsized, throwing Hooper, Brandy Runyon, 36, and Braylnn Runyon, 5, into the water.

Nearby fishermen were able to pull all three of them from the water. Luckily, all three of them were wearing life jackets, and escaped with only minor injuries. They were transported to a local hospital, where they were treated and released.

TWRA warns that waters below dams are turbulent, especially when water is being released, and fishermen and others entering this area should proceed with extreme caution.
