Fatal crash in Loudon County kills Knoxville man

LOUDON COUNTY (WATE) - A Knoxville man is dead after a fatal crash in Loudon County Friday afternoon.

Tennessee Highway Patrol says the wreck happened along State Highway 72 at the intersection of Watkins Road just before noon.

J.M. Day, 59, of Knoxville, was traveling westbound along the highway when his Toyota Tacoma drifted off the left side of the roadway, hit a tree and came to a rest in a ditch.

Drugs and alcohol were not involved, and Day was wearing a seatbelt.
