Farmer takes a break from crops to celebrate 100th birthday

A Lenoir City farmer is celebrating a big milestone . Joe Ralph Alexander turned 100 years old Saturday.

His family marked the big day with a cake and bonfire.

Alexander is the oldest alum from the UT Institute of Agriculture, but his age hasn't slowed him down.

Joe Alexander Jr, Ralph's Son, said "I think those are the values and traits that if I can carry on, then I will hopefully be as good as he was."

Ralph graduated from the college of agriculture in 1938 and retired in 1973.
