Rollin Joshua Talley, 36, Goddard Avenue, was brought in by Alcoa police officers at 6:29 p.m. Sunday and was let go at 8:22 p.m. Monday.
Alcoa police detective Kris Sanders is leading an investigation into nine sex-related allegations against Paul Talley, 40, a former Alcoa High School history teacher and softball coach.
Sanders would not confirm a connection between Rollin Talley’s detention and the case against Paul Talley, and he would not comment specifically on either investigation.
“We’re trying to see what develops in regards to (Rollin),” Sanders said. “We have to have probable cause to detain anyone, and the only reason I would put anyone on investigative hold is to further an investigation. It’s not something we do often.”
Paul Talley was indicted by a Blount County grand jury on charges of abusing his position of authority to commit nine sex offenses against minors.
He is free on $150,000 bond pending a Feb. 28 hearing in Blount County Circuit Court.
