The End?

Tonight's Lenoir City Council meeting may finally put an end to what has almost become a laughable situation within city government. Item one on the agenda is,

1. Consideration of City Council adopting Ordinance re-establishing the court clerk position back to the city recorder's office. 1st Reading.

Back in May of 2008, Lenoir City Judge, Terry Vann, convinced the council to give him control of the city court clerk's position but tonight it seems that council  may correct their error.

The city charter says the treasurer/recorder will be the court clerk. MTAS, The Municipal Technical Advisory Service, says the treasurer/recorder will be the court clerk. The state attorney general says the treasurer/recorder will be the court clerk.

Maybe, just maybe, the city council will finally do the right thing and put control of the court clerk back where it belongs. We'll see.
