Elvis Has Left The Road

Another wreck at Ford Road, Muddy Creek and Hwy. 11 left one injured and could have been much worse. Elvis Presley of Philadelphia was traveling toward Lenoir City when a car ran the stop sign at Muddy Creek clipping the back bumper of Presley's truck. The truck spun out taking down a power pole then narrowly missing the home of Donnie Stamey, then struck a tree before coming to rest in Stamey's front yard. Presley received minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. Highway 11 was closed for about thirty minutes while the wreck was cleaned up.

Even though there have been dozens of accidents at this intersection, the DOT says the low fatality count at this intersection does not justify a red light.
