Election Outcomes

Thursday's election brought two new members to the Loudon County school board. Lisa Harvey bested two other opponents to take the 5th district seat. Kenneth Presley upended twelve year incumbent, Craig Simon, to take the 7th district seat. Incumbent, Kenny Ridings held off a challenger to retain his seat in the 1st district. Congratulations to the winners.

As August elections go, the turnout was very high. Four years ago, less than three thousand voted in this election. This time, almost eleven thousand cast ballots. That's almost 30% of the registered voters in the county. Nearly two thousand were absentee ballots.

As to party,  9,068 republicans voted compared to only 1,805 democrats. That democrat number is still way to high.

6,056 voted early with 2,957 voting day of. I had predicted 2,700-3,000 would vote day of. Our early voting/day of percentage was a little lower this election with almost 60% voting early.

The November election is going to be huge. Plan to vote early to avoid day of lines.
