I know this is in response to what one of our commissioners continually puts stuff on his web page and this is in response to that, because what he’s saying is that we keep all the money,” Eddie Simpson, councilman, said.

“That couldn’t be farther from the truth. He misleads everybody on everything he puts on there in one way or the other, and it’s sad that we have somebody that’s that negative in our city that tries to tear everything we do down.
 

“If the county would do half of what we’ve done for this city then they wouldn’t have to worry about any tax increases or anything ever,” he added. “... We’re all taxpayers and I understand that.” Councilman Eddie Simpson News Herald 9/26/18

That's pretty strong language and accusations especially given that he offered no proof or evidence to back up his charge. He kind of sounds like that crazy woman accusing the judge with no evidence.

So if Mr. Simpson wants a credibility contest, well, I'm all in. Let's review.

Just a few weeks ago, Mr. Simpson said they really didn't want to increase the sales tax that much, but it was the county's fault they had to. False

Mr. Simpson said the council had nothing to do with asking for the tax increase just after voting for it. False

Last year Mr. Simpson said they really didn't want to implement the Rain Tax but they had no choice, it was mandated. False

Back in July, Mr. Simpson was caught on video surveillance skulking around the county building in the early morning hours posting fake signs in an attempt to cause dissention and animosity among other elected officials. By the way, in his county provided car using county provided gas.

And who can forget this one, the Pothole Hotline from 2010? Anybody know that phone number? What's the evacuation rout from your neighborhood?
