East Tennessee man killed in Interstate 75 crash in Loudon County

By News Sentinel staff

Authorities say alcohol was a factor in a fatal overnight traffic crash in Loudon County.

Gregory Collette, 39, of Sweetwater, Tenn., was killed when the 2008 Chevy Tahoe he was driving veered off the roadway along Interstate 75 South near mile marker 75 and struck a guardrail in the median, flipping the SUV onto its side, according to a Tennessee Highway Patrol incident report.

The vehicle then slid into a bridge support, where it came to rest.

Collette was wearing a seat belt at the time of the single-vehicle crash, which was reported shortly before 3 a.m. today. There was evidence that the victim had been drinking, the report states.

No other occupants were involved in the crash.
