LENOIR CITY (WATE) - Hundreds of people gathered in Lenoir City Saturday to watch and participate in the "Driving to Make a Difference" campaign, benefiting the United Way of Loudon County.

Organizers set up a special course in a large parking lot where drivers could compete in a timed challenge to test their skills.

For a small donation to United Way, many spectators were able to ride along with some of the drivers on the twisting track.

Cars competing in the challenge ranged from stock models on racing tires to those that were extremely modified.

The East Tennessee Region Sports Car Club of America helped host the event, which was held at the Adesa auto auction facility on Adesa Parkway.

Organizers with United Way of Loudon County said they were pleased with the turnout and hope to schedule another event for next year.
