SWEETWATER-A Philadelphia area man was arrested Monday after a Sweetwater Police officer had to swerve off the road to avoid hitting him, authorities said. Officer Kris King said he was patrolling on Oakland Road when he rounded a curve and came upon a white SUV passing another car on the curve.

King said he ran off the road to avoid a collision and managed to get turned around and go after the SUV. By the time he caught up to the truck, it had sped up and turned onto Cedar Valley Road. King said he turned on his lights and siren, but this only caused the driver to go faster. King said he lost sight of the truck for about 10 seconds as it topped a hill near McCulloch's Trailer Park, but when King topped the hill, he saw the SUV had wrecked as it tried to turn in to the trailer park.

The driver was identified as Fidencio Antonio Aranda, 19, Reed Springs Road, Philadelphia, and was not reported to have been injured in the wreck. King placed him under arrest and charged him with reckless driving, evading arrest, driving without a license and not having any insurance.
