Dispute gets local man multiple charges

A Lenoir City man was arrested for assault, vandalism, possession of drugs and public intoxication Saturday following a dispute.

Lenoir City Police Officer Chris Law responded to a Lenoir City home in reference to a man with a handgun breaking into a residence. When Law arrived, he saw Eric Jimenez, 22, walking around the porch unsteadily and throwing his hands up in the air.

After several verbal commands, Jimenez left the porch and was taken into custody.

Law reported Jimenez had bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speed and smelled of alcohol. Law found broken glass all over the porch.

A woman at the residence told Law that she and Jimenez had been arguing all evening. The woman said when she went to lie down on a sofa, Jimenez got on top of her and started choking her. Another individual in the house told Jimenez to stop. As Jimenez was leaving the residence, he smashed the front window.

Law wrote in his report that he observed marks on the woman’s face that corroborated her story.

While placing Jimenez under arrest, Law found two clear baggies inside a pocket on the jacket of Jimenez. The baggies were filled with a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine.

Jimenez was charged with aggravated assault, manufacture, sell, delivery, resale of a Schedule II substance, public intoxication and vandalism and released on $17,000 bond.
