assault arrest
A
Sweetwater woman was arrested for domestic assault May 16
after reportedly striking a family member.
Loudon County Sheriffs Office deputies were dispatched to Interstate 75 near mile marker 78 in the early morning with reports of two women who were on the freeway. Witnesses reported one woman seemed to be running from the other. Deputy Christian Rogers talked with a woman walking in the median. She told Rogers she had been in a verbal argument with Sandy Paola Navarrete-Martinez, 40, who allegedly hit her in the face and struck her with a phone charger. Rogers noted a black eye and a welt on the womans left arm consistent with the USB end of a phone charger.
While speaking to
the woman, Navarrete-Martinez arrived. She claimed she
had gotten upset while the two were driving, but that
she was not aware the other woman had a black eye and
welt on her arm. Navarrete-Martinez said she didnt know
how either injury could have happened.
Navarrete-Martinez said she simply pulled over and the woman jumped out of the car and started running. Navarrete-Martinez was charged with domestic assault and released on $1,000 bond. May 13
