Dinner fight escalates to assault of woman

A Loudon man is facing domestic assault charges after initially arguing with a woman over dinner.

Responding to a report of a domestic dispute on Shawnee Point, Loudon County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Anthony Akins met Robert Daniel Bertoli, who said he and a woman got into an argument over dinner.

Bertoli said the woman upset him and he pushed her in a kitchen chair from the kitchen table to the kitchen sink. He allegedly held her down and would not let her get out of the chair. After speaking to the woman, Akins learned Bertoli was upset because the woman would not get him red cabbage during dinner.

“(The woman) stated that Robert grabbed her plate and took her cabbage,” Akins wrote in the report, adding he became aggressive. “... (The woman) stated that Robert shook his fist at her and said, if you want more, I’ll give you more’.”

After being let go, the woman went to the basement in fear, according to the report. There were visible marks on the woman’s wrist.
Bertoli, 78, Loudon, was charged with domestic assault and released on $1,000 bond.
