Definitely Loco

What is this obsession some people have, that they just have to block roads and snarl traffic in Loudon County? Bet you think I'm talking about those crazy bicycle riders? Not this time. This time it's joggers again.

For the second year, the Loudon County Education Foundation is putting on a run event. Last year, they blocked several county roads and streets for a few hours creating a lot of problems for a lot of drivers. Apparently, last year's cluster mess wasn't good enough. This year they plan to to jam up traffic for a lot longer in even more places.

Below is the a list on the roads they plan to foul up this year. One of the biggest differences this year is that they are going to have one lane of  Hwy 11 closed between Loudon and Lenoir City for six hours. You'll be able to go to Loudon from LC, you just want be able to come back, at least for six hours on Hwy. 11.

I have no idea how any organization can just announce they're going to shut down the roads with no consideration how that will impact the whole community. But they're doing it.

I've never understood why the bicyclers and runners don't just get on the interstate. They could run/bike to California and back and not cause any traffic jams.

Make plans to avoid this insanity on December 7th.

On December 7th, 2019 the Run Loco Marathon will be going through Lenoir City, Loudon County, and Loudon City. There will be runners on roadways in the county and traffic delays should be expected due to road closures. The following roads will be closed or partially closed.

North Bound US Highway 11 will be closed from 8am- 2pm

North Bound Old 95 and West bound Hotchkiss Valley Road will be closed

Adesa Boulevard East bound will be closed at Cotton Mill Road

Cotton Mill Road will be closed to through traffic

Please try to avoid these roads if possible and watch for runners in the roadway. Drive safely.
