De-Annexed

As the Loudon County school board continues to take small steps toward the possibility of building a new high/middle school on the upper end of Loudon County, another small step has been taken.

At last Monday's Lenoir City council meeting, at the request of Lenoir City First Baptist Church, the council voted unanimously to de-annex the 27+/- acres the church is considering selling to the school board.

Thus far in the process, the BOE has voted to buy the property, the church has voted to sell the property, and the property has been de-annexed. The next steps is for the BOE to have all the testing and due diligence done on the property.

On November 7th, the county commission will hold a vote to allow the BOE to spend the 1.825 million to buy the property. The BOE currently has the funds to buy the property, but the county commission must vote to allow them to spend the money.

Director of Loudon County schools, Mike Garren, hopes to have all the preliminary property work done and be able to close on the property by the end of the year.
