News Herald Arrest Report

Couple caught with fake ID cards

Two Northport, Ala., residents were arrested after law enforcement responded to a wreck on Interstate 75 and found counterfeit identification cards and discovered the vehicle was stolen.

Dispatched to a wreck with an injury, Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Rodney Best found a female with head injuries and two males in the vehicle. All three were transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where Best continued his investigation.

The two passengers identified were Leonel Catalan Aguirre and Esperanza Cavilla-Cisnerso.

“During my investigation, I found the defendant possession multiple counterfeit Society Security cards that were made to appear as genuine cards issued by the Social Security Administration,” Best wrote in the report. “However, the cards did not have the appropriate security features found on authentic cards. Furthermore, the defendant possessed a counterfeit Permanent Resident Card that was made to appear as genuine but did not have the appropriate security features like authentic cards issued by the Department of Homeland Security.”

Best noted in the report that it was common for someone to illegally buy, sell or possess counterfeit ID cards to gain employment or other benefits. Dispatch advised Best the vehicle was stolen out of Kentucky.

Cavilla-Cisneros, 40, was charged with theft over $10,000, forgery of U.S. residence card and forgery of Social Security card and held on $20,000 bond.

Aguirre, 42, was charged with theft over $10,000 and held on $10,000 bond.

Joseph Benjamin Comer, 35, Lenoir City, was charged with aggravated statutory rape after a 17-year-old girl said she was in a relationship with him in January 2014. Both worked together in Knox County. The girl indicated there were four instances in which she and Comer had sex.

"In 2017, (the girl) spoke to Mr. Comer via Facebook Messenger," Loudon County Sheriff's Office Inv. Sgt. Jason Smith wrote in a report. "She talked about the sexual relationship and the issues she was having due to their past relationship. Mr. Comer responded that he loved her and put his life at risk just to be with her. He stated that he was sorry if he crossed the line with her."

On July 31, Comer was spoken to by law enforcement and claimed the two only kissed. He said he knew she was 16 years old when they started talking, and he could not recall a Facebook conversation with the girl.
