Our very own 21st District State Representative, Jimmy Matlock, has been appointed as the chairman of the Transportation Committee. That's one of the more important state committees.
Legislation typically referred to the Transportation Committee deals with truck weights; safety regulation (motorcycle safety, motor vehicles, trucks, trains, airplanes, bicycles); highways, roads and bridges and railroads (maintenance, repair and construction); pipelines, public utilities, public works, and motor vehicle registration.
Shucks, we should see a lot of big road improvements in Loudon County now. Just kidding. But in all seriousness, congratulations to Mr. Matlock. He has proven himself a true representative of the folks here in Loudon County and Monroe County and must have proven himself to the other members of state government he works with.
