Budget Passed
| By the end of a three and a half hour meeting, county
commission passed their 2019-2020 budget. No property tax increase was
needed for the new budget. Loudon County still maintains the fourth
lowest property tax rate in the state.
The most contentious part of this years budget, was the sheriff's requested increase in personal in the sheriff's department and jail. In the end, the commission voted to give the sheriff 24 new jailers and 6 new deputies. Those 6 include 2 new SRO's, 1 court officer and 3 road deputies. One event of note, a citizen who just couldn't control herself was removed from the meeting by a sheriff's deputy. First time I've ever seen that happen. |
