Bridge Bids

According to conversations between State Representatives Jimmy Matlock, Randy McNally and Tennessee Department Of Transportation (TDOT) officials, bids for the construction of the new bridge over the Tennessee River below Fort Loudon Dam will be let on June 15th. This is big news and the necessary first step for the construction of the new bridge.

No construction start date has yet been announced but generally, construction bids are usually valid for about ninety days. It's just speculation on my part, but looks like we could see construction begin well before the end of this year.

The construction will also include widening Hwy. 321 from Hwy.11 to the new four lane bridge. This will complete the total four laneing from Loudon County to Sevier County.

The old bridge over the dam will be closed and ultimately removed after the completion of the new bridge.
