The Biggest Tree

For years I've looked at this tree and thought it has to be one of the biggest trees in the county. Not so much tall but big around. This is the tree behind Home Depot that we've all been trying to see around for forever. Now that they've cleared the other brush around it, it looks bigger than ever.

I finally had to measure it. Twenty-one and a half feet around at it's middle. That's one huge Oak Tree.

Simpson Road is actually a very old road. It shows up on an 1890 map I have of the area. The tree age calculator online estimates the age, based on size, at around 120. That old tree's seen a lot of changes. It's stood on that hump a long time.

Very shortly it will be gone and we won't have to guess what's coming down the road anymore.
