Beer Buys Net Six Violations

On Friday 02/23/2007 the Lenoir City Police Department in cooperation with the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission and the Knoxville Police Department conducted underage alcohol buys at restaurants and retail establishments in Lenoir City. Eight retail establishments and five restaurants were checked during the four hour sting. Six employees were cited at six different businesses.

Businesses that sell or serve alcohol need to be aware that the Lenoir City Police Department will continue monitoring them to see that underage persons are not being allowed to purchase alcohol.

The names of the businesses who violated the underage laws will be turned over to the Lenoir City Beer Board for further action. The penalties could range from a warning to a $1,500.00 fine to a revocation of their beer licenses.
