Baler Burns

Long time Loudon County farmer, Bill Campbell, suffered the loss of his Hesston Large Square Hay Baler last week. It is suspected that an electrical short in the onboard computer was the cause of the fire. The baler fire also ignited the field of wheat straw that Campbell was working. Several acres just off Dixon Road burned before Rural Metro was able to bring the fire under control. Campbell said, while the loss of the bailer was bad, things could have been much worse had the fire not been contained. Besides the loss of the bailer, Campbell also lost 23 large bales of straw that had been baled prior to the fire.
