Avalon Golf & Country Club to be auctioned

An auction has been set by Furrow Auction Co. for Nov. 5 for the 150-acre Avalon Golf & Country Club in Lenoir City.

The property was last appraised at more than $3.7 million, according to documents from the Loudon County Property Assessor.

The course and a 10,000 square-foot building housing its pro shop and restaurant will be sold at absolute auction with no minimum or reserve.

Burleson Gillenwater and Associates acquired the property in 2011, and is associated with Knoxville developers Paul Gillenwater and David Burleson, the original developers of the Avalon Community and Avalon Golf Club.

Founded in 1996, the property was designed by architect Joe Lee and has received a four-star rating from Golf Digest magazine.
