Ambulance service offers rides to seniors

(KNOXVILLE) Plenty of folks won't be able to spend the holidays with their families.

But one Knoxville ambulance service is working to ensure seniors in nursing homes and medical facilities can be with their loved ones.

For the past two years Priority Ambulance has worked with nine facilities to get seniors home for the holidays.

The back-and-forth ride to and from their facility is free of charge.

Seniors interested in catching a ride home just need to be healthy enough to be away from their facility or be able to get help from family at home.

For ambulance drivers, reuniting families makes working during the holidays a lot easier.

“It’s a wonderful morale booster. You get to see the person who is normally not able to spend time at home with their family light up! You get to see their loved ones and watch their faces,” said Priority’s Dennis Rowe.
