75k It Is

To no one's surprise, at Monday's Lenoir City council meeting, the mayor/council reestablished the $75,000.00 salary for the city judge. Back in April, the mayor/council cut the pay from $75,000.00 down to $7,200.00. The intent was hoped to keep any other candidates from running for the job. Aikens wanted to be sure his right hand man, city attorney, Greg Harrison, won the election.

At Monday's meeting, Aikens openly admitted that cutting the pay was his plan to eliminate current city judge, Robin McNabb from the position. Aikens went on at length belittling McNabb's performance as the judge and said he and council had to do something to eliminate her. Thus the pay cut. Ultimately, even the 90% pay cut did not dissuade McNabb from running for re-election. Harrison won the election by 33 votes.

Harrison will take the position September 1st. Maybe?
