21st Numbers

One of the contest races in this election is for the 21st Tennessee House District, the seat Jimmy Matlock has held for the past twelve years and will soon be leaving. Candidates for this seat are, from Loudon County, Tony Aikens and Doyle Arp and from Monroe County, Lowell Russell.

The 21 district is made up of part of Loudon County and part of Monroe County. The district lines are all over the place.  Below are the early vote totals by precinct. Note that Loudon County has voted nearly double Monroe County.

The logical math would be that if Lowell Russell could carry Monroe County heavily and Aikens and Arp divided up Loudon County, the numbers would favor Russell. But with such a low turn out down in Monroe, the math shifts more to one of the Loudon County candidates and probably which ever one carries the 5th and 7th districts, Eatons and Tellico Village . But who knows, Monroe County may turn out heavy on election day and catch up with Loudon County.

Bottom line, nobody knows who will win till the fat lady sings Thursday night.
