Four years ago, the voter turnout was relatively high with 11,163 voters going to the polls. The higher than usual turnout could be atributed to a number of contested races in that election.

It was a hot primary for a new governor, and county general elections to pick a new mayor, four commissioners, a new judge and two school board members. 

This August election will have only a few contested races which may cause the turnout much lighter.
