150th Anniversary

On May 17th, 1870, the Tennessee state legislature, meeting in regular session after a popular vote of the people, took portions of Roane County, Blount County and Monroe County to crate a brand new county. The new county would be called Christiana County. About a month later, the legislature took more action on the new county including changing the name to Loudon County, and so our history began.

Next year will be Loudon County's 150th Anniversary. Plans are already being discussed on how to best celebrate our 150th birthday. Bo Carey, of Loudon is currently the point man for the process, at least until he can get the needed organization in place.

How ironic that as we approach our 150th, we just lost the old court house that's almost as old as the county it's self. But maybe there's an opportunity here for our generation to move Loudon County into the next 150 years, bigger and bolder than the last 150 years.

I do believe we can both move to the future and preserve the past with equal enthusiasm.

The future for Loudon County is shining bright.
